when is it safe to feed baby infant rice cereal?
a lot of friends say they started their babies on rice cereal (in their bottles) between 1-3 monthes. i recently talked to someone that said never to put the rice cereal in the baby bottle and not to start the baby on the cereal for a long time. i know its not best to give it to her this earlie (1 1/2 monthes old) but mothers have been putting this cereal in bottles for a long time to keep the baby full.. how dangerous is it really? have any of you started your baby on the rice cereal young and/ or in a bottle??
it is not really that dangerous. My mother and sister in law used to do it only at night so the baby would sleep though the night and not wake up hungry. that was when they were about 2 months old. But if the child is about 5 months it is about time to feed them regular rice cereal mixed with the formula but feed them with a spoon. It is hard to teach a child to eat off the spoon but it has to be done.
I feel that parents that give their child cereal in a bottle for a long time, that is just being lazy
