Does the man go with you to register for baby gifts?

I wondered if the mother herself will be recorded baby gifts or does the man usually go with you to do things? I know there is no rule as to whether I try onthis the man will generally these things with you?

In my situation, my friend who was part of helping to plan the baby shower took me. If it were not for her, I would not have a shower first, and had been involved in before (for other people) and I did not, so she knew all about just what to register and how everything works, etc. Believe me, the father would have been no support whatsoever, and I know I would have missed! lol
