Out Of Print Children’s Book?

I have an old/vintage, out of print Children’s poetry/nursery rhyme book that I would like to use in an art project for my nursery theme.

This would include photocopying the pages of the book and using the pictures/poems in a quilt block, on the walls, (matted and colored in) , and in a mobil.

Would this be legal? I don’t want to destroy the book, because it took me three years to find another copy of it, and I do dearly love it, since it was used in my childhood as well as my Dad’s.

Any advice would help! Thanks!

The text isn’t “owned” by anyone and very much part of the public domain (which is why there are so many editions out there). The only thing that would be worrisome would be replicating the art, which CAN be copyrighted. But since you’re using it for home use and you’re not duplicating the art for profit, you’re probably okay using the art for the nursery.
