Should I Get A Car Seat or Booster?
My son just turned two years old. He’s extremely tall for his age (>99 percentile), and he’s just about outgrown his car seat which is a Britax Roundabout (max weight 40lbs). Can I put him in a regular booster seat now? They have booster/car seat hybrids that have the 5 point restraint, but only hold 40-80lbs and they have booster seats that only utilize the car’s belts but hold 40-100lbs.
The minimum age a child should be in a booster is 4 years and 40 pounds. My son is 3 and has been off the charts in weight and height his whole life. He is still harnessed in a Graco Nautilis. Which has a weight limit of 65 pounds, then must be used as a booster till 100 pounds. Look into purchasing a seat with a higher harness weight limit. A 2 year old has no buisness being in a booster. They lack the maturity to sit properly and their internal bone structure is not strong enough to withstand the crash forces if they are in just a booster.
