Toxic chemicals in baby shampoo
When my children were babies, I never suspected that there were several chemical products toxic in baby shampoo. I thought that these companies have been around for decades and can be trusted to be secure.
Well, I was in shock when I discovered that not only baby shampoo dangerous, but if the bath Baby, baby lotion and baby powder. Now, my mind raced – what had in my shampoo and body? What Is there any personal care products, my family and me every day? were the words and unpronounceable in my bottle lotion, the representative of hazardous chemicals?
I found this list of names of the most common and dangerous chemicals and began compare the names to the list of ingredients on my bottle of lotion, shampoo and conditioner, soap and shaving cream, toothpaste and mouthwash. Talk alarm clock! They put my body more than 160 toxic chemicals a day, only in personal care products.
The Environmental Working Group conducted a study in 2004 on a group of people: newborns. Umbilical Cord Blood was collected from 10 babies born in August and September 2004 in U.S. hospitals The study found 287 chemicals in the group: pesticides, consumer product ingredients, and waste combustion coal, gasoline and garbage.
"Product Of the 287 chemicals detected in umbilical cord blood, we know that 180 cause cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests. The dangers of exposure the pre-or post-natal complex mixture of carcinogens, toxins and development neurotoxins have never been studied. http://archive.ewg.org/reports/bodyburden2/execsumm.php
A child develops in the womb, or a child, is much more sensitive to damage caused by toxins than adults. Its organs are developing rapidly and its defense system is incomplete, and are not able to withstand the assault of these chemicals. href = "http://archive.ewg.org/reports/bodyburden2/execsumm.php"> Read the study here.
Another study conducted by the GTA, 16 chemicals found from four families of chemicals in the body of 20 girls American Teen. The teenagers were found to use an average of nearly 17 personal care products a day – the average adult female consumes around 12. teens consume up to 17 products per day are exposed over 174 unique cosmetic ingredients. Read the study here . The young people also are developing fast, and are considered especially sensitive to hormone disrupting properties of these chemicals.
So what are these chemicals, and what damage they do practice?
- Propylene glycol (PG) and butylene glycol – found in antifreeze and deodorant. PG penetrates the skin and weakens protein and cellular structure. It strong enough to remove barnacles from boats! The EPA considers PG so toxic that workers should wear protective clothing and dispose of PG by burying the soil. PG penetrates the skin so quickly, the EPA warns against contact to prevent brain, liver and kidney abnormalities, but is not even a warning label products such as stick deodorants, where the concentration is greater than in most industrial applications.
- lauryl sulfate sodium (SLS) and sodium laureth sulphate (SLES) - Used in cleaners and degreasers motor garage floor – and the products baby bath for the foam. Animals exposed to SLS eye damage, depression, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, severe skin irritation and even death. small eyes can not develop properly if exposed to SLS. It can damage the skin's immune system and can become a powerful class of carcinogens. Your body may retain the SLS for up to five days and maintain residual levels in the heart, liver, lungs and brain.
- DEA (Diethanolamine). MEA (Monoethanolaniine) and TEA (triethanolamine) – hormone disrupting chemicals that may form cancer causing nitrates. Restricted in Europe due to carcinogenic effects, but still used in the U.S. Americans may be exposed 10-20 times per day with shampoos, shaving creams and bubble baths. Dr. Samuel Epstein (Professor of Environmental Health at the University of Illinois) says that repeated applications of detergents DEA results based on a large increase in the liver and kidney cancer. The PDA John Bailey, said: "The risk is considerably higher for children."
- Sodium hydroxide – caustic caustic soda found in drain cleaners, and now in our toothpaste! Even I found myself in a shaving cream all-natural.
- Triclosan – A synthesis "antibacterial" with a chemical structure similar to Agent Orange! It is widely used in soaps, toothpastes and deodorants, has been detected in breast milk, and a recent study has shown that it interferes with testosterone activity in cells. toxic effects measured in parts per trillion: It is just a drop in 300 Olympic-sized swimming pools!
- DMDM and Urea (Imidazolidinyl) – Two of the preservatives that often release formaldehyde lot and found soap baby bath, nail polish, eyelash adhesive and hair dyes. They have a long list of adverse health including the immune system toxicity, respiratory tract irritation and cancer in humans and can cause joint pain, skin reactions, allergies, depression, headaches, chest pains, ear infections, chronic fatigue, dizziness and sleeplessness.
- Polyethylene glycol (PEG) – Oil carcinogenic ingredients that reduces the skin's natural moisture. Improves the appearance of aging and makes it vulnerable to bacteria. It is also used in aerosol oven cleaners and cleansers to dissolve oil and grease.
- Parabens – (methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, isobutyl-) – Parabens appear in a wide variety of toiletries. One study found Butylparaben that damaged sperm formation in the testes of mice, and a report of methylparaben sodium, is banned in EU cosmetics Parabens are broken down in the body in p-hydroxybenzoic acid, which has estrogenic activity in cultured cancer cells human breast.
- Alcohol, Isopropyl (SD-40) – Made of petroleum product, is present in the lacquer and antifreeze, and personal care products. A dry, irritating solvent that moisture from the skin and immune barrier strips, making it vulnerable to bacteria and viruses. Promotes dark spots and premature aging. Fatal ingested dose is one ounce or less.
- Mineral oil - A petroleum product that coats the skin like plastic wrap, clogging the pores. Interferes with the skin's ability to eliminate toxins, promoting acne and other disorders. Reduce skin function and cell development, resulting in aging premature. Baby Oil is 100% mineral oil!
- FD & C Color Pigments - Synthetic dyes from coal tar are known human carcinogens as active ingredients used in shampoos against dandruff and itching. cream-based dyes, such as coal tar FD & C Blue 1, used in toothpastes, and FD & C Green 3, used in bathrooms mouth
- Perfume - The general term "fragrance" may mask phthalates, which act endocrine disruptors and can cause obesity and reproductive harm and development. Store up to four thousand ingredients (including animal urine), many toxic or carcinogenic. Causes headaches, dizziness, rash, allergies, skin discoloration, severe coughing, vomiting and irritation of the skin. Perfumes also affect the nervous system, causing depression, hyperactivity, irritability, inability to cope and other behavioral changes.
Thus, in our baby shampoo and bubble bath, that our little babies and toddlers are exposed during the game, perfumes, FD & C colors, parabens, sodium hydroxide, imidazolidinyl urea, among others. As indicated above, some of these problems problem with the reproductive organs, and our children are sitting on this for 10-15 minutes, playing in his bath time!
The list is not exhaustive. You stopped reading long ago is too overwhelming. I hope this report encourages to make their own investigations and, like me, thorough cleaning of the bathroom cabinet.
