Apple iBook G4 Review Latpop
Getting an Apple laptop was unthinkable for me at first. I felt nothing from Apple is smart "Switch" ads, and like many colleagues with a PC / Windows, Mac thought were for beginners, graphic designers, grandmothers and others who could not handle more than one mouse button.
However, when I began my quest to buy an inexpensive laptop, I found many problems. Ultraportables and subnotebooks often lacked basic features I wanted as an optical drive and could easily burn a hole in my wallet … on several occasions. Thin and light seemed very attractive, so I did some research this category the majority. Some of my favorites are the battery for Fujitsu S6210, IBM T40 Battery in the series, and the Inspiron 600m Battery. However, even my loved ones did not work because it did not meet my budget (about U.S. $ 1,000).
Then I was introduced to a strange mixture of the above. Apple 12 "iBook weighs less than five touch pounds, but in the form factor ultra-portable. It is too heavy for an ultraportable, but it's small screen means that does not conform to thin and lights. It that really caught my attention was the price. Apart from Averatec, is the only laptop I found a retail price of $ 999 that came in less than five pounds. But as any consumer willing to spend hard earned money, I was still skeptical.
I continued doing my research and always heard good things about the iBook. Finally, Apple and Amazon gave me a sign. In late October, Apple ( Apple laptop battery) included Airport Extreme (802.11g) and bumped into the processor core to 1.2 GHz addition, Amazon still had a discount $ 150 Apple laptop. It was not long for me to know that $ 850 + $ 20 shipping was a darn good. I ordered on the following points and paitiently expected.

First Impressions
No doubt Apple spends more money on design than its competitors. Just the box itself screams 'gorgeous'. I tore through the packaging like a kid on Christmas morning. Under all the brochures, manuals and CD finally came to the iBook. I recommend keeping the thin foam as a screen saver.
Once lit Laptop, which was immediately filled with fear. In the upper right corner has a blue pixel. I decided not to think about it, and continue exploring my new toy. (Note: all images are replacement I received)
The laptop is absolutely beautiful. If I had not seen the price tag, I thought the iBook to be much more expensive. The bare simplicity of the laptop is beautiful. Besides binding the Apple logo at the top (which lights up!) Only rounded edges. No bevels; No locks, no doors. When I have in my hands, feels like taking a piece of polished marble. (In reality: polycarbonate plastic, and alloy magnesium)
The building is really superior. Pressed against the back of the reinforced LCD does not cause ripples in the image, or curvature of the screen between my hands. I feel sure this laptop in a backpack at closing. The hinge connecting the screen is also quite robust and also serves as an exhaust heat. The slot-loading drive is too cold for it. Everyone is fascinated by how the iBook sucks in CDs. Apple also claims to have hard rubber mounted to absorb vibration and shock. ( Apple iBook G4 Battery )
I consider myself a PC PowerUser and often have multiple applications and windows open on my desktop. I am very used to working in a document and then make the change more Alt-Tab in Windows environment. Fortunately, this latest version of Mac OS X comes with the iBook, Command-Tab does the same thing. The most beautiful is the way OS X button shortcuts. Although the tab control, I can use other keys to have an action on the application said. I can cmd-tab to an application that no longer and press Q to quit it or H to hide it. There are also keyboard shortcuts to open the Applications folder and the My Documents folder.

The screen is very clear, and more than bright enough for indoors and out. The lowest value turns off the backlight altogether. The screen is not wow factor Fujisu same as S6210, but it is certainly clear and bright. Thanks to the separate ATI video chip, DVDs run without artifacts, and color representation is clear. There is also an option to S-Video and composite video adapter available for $ 20. Unfortunately, it is only the screen-mirror. To get to the screen encompasses all, is a well known trick, you can use. Since I do not see myself with this function, I'd rather not take the risk.
