Victoria: An Empire Under the Sun, also known simply as Victoria or Vicky, is a set of RTS by Paradox Entertainment (Now known as Paradox Interactive). It covers its namesake the Victorian period, particularly 1836-1920 and runs on a modified version of the Europa Universalis engine. The lead game programmer was Johan Andersson. The game was later ported to Mac by Virtual Programming.
Unlike previous Paradox games, which focuses on the exploration and colonization (Europa Universalis) or warfare (Hearts of Iron), Victoria focuses on internal management, covering industrialization, social and political change in a country. The game itself gives much importance to the economy of a country, have a complex system market, which is described as one of the best economic simulators ever made. Fans of Paradox's games have noted that the game will have more profound paradox Indeed, what makes it very popular among fans of Paradox. However, Victoria received largely indifferent reviews of the release, on average only 60.4% on Game Rankings. Critics cited reasons such as the slope of the learning curve of the game and relatively old graphics.
On 19 August 2009 Victoria Suite 2 has been announced and is scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2010 [1]. The economic system in Victoria is trying to simulate resource flows in a global market. Each province in the game produced a resource. Some resources, such as wheat, are sought mainly by pollutants (organic Units persistent population), and can be sold directly. Other materials such as wood, are mostly consumed by the industry – but nevertheless can be sold directly at least benefits. The player has a wide range of options to help build its economy, provided they have access to cheap raw materials. All resources can be collected or produced by industry. They can also be purchased on the world market. The global market access is granted on the basis of prestige of a number of countries.
